Overview

Experience the thrill of SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron, a side-scrolling action-platform game with shooting and RPG elements based on the excellent but sadly and unfairly short-lived cult-classic animated series of the same name, which takes place in the fictional metropolis of Megakat City, which is populated by anthropomorphic felines, known as “kats”.

Developed by AIM and initially released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1995, SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron lets you step into the paws of Razor and T-Bone, the fearless heroes of MegaKat City, where you’ll battle iconic villains across levels inspired by episodes of the show, each featuring unique bosses, including the infamous Dark Kat, who kidnapped Callie Briggs.

Swat Kats is essentially a 2D platformer game where T-Bone and Razor make their way through 5 action-packed different worlds. They’ll also fly the Turbokat Fighter in Mode 7-style sequences, upgrade weapons, and use strategic gameplay to save the day. This nostalgic excitement also offers vibrant graphics, engaging platforming, and a password-based level-select system.

Controls

• Arrow Keys – Move and crouch (D-Pad)
• Z – Shoot and select (Button A)
• X – Jumps (Button B)
• S – Fire Glovatrix (Button Y)
• Enter – (Start) (Pause)
• On the 3-D flying scenes, use the D-Pad to move the Turbokat left or right and move the missile sight up and down. Press A, B, Z or X to shoot.
• TO RUN LEFT (or RIGHT), press the Y-BUTTON plus the CONTROL PAD LEFT (or RIGHT) twice.
• TO USE THE SPECIAL ATTACK, while running press the B-BUTTON to jump and press the Y-BUTTON while in the air to attack.
• TO CLIMB UP A WALL (or any scaleable object), press the CONTROL PAD UP or CONTROL PAD DOWN to climb the wall.
• TO JUMP OFF A WALL (or any scaleable object), press the B-BUTTON plus the CONTROL PAD.
• TO GRIP ONTO A WALL (or any scaleable object), press the CONTROL PAD LEFT if the wall is to the Swat Kats’ left or CONTROL PAD RIGHT if the wall is to the right.
• Attention: these controls are default. Hover your mouse into the lower part of the screen and a control bar will show up. You can (re)set the controls there, if you want.
