Overview
Astérix is a side-scrolling platformer based on the classic comic book series created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, containing many of its familiar characters and scenery. It was developed by Sega and released in 1990 for Master System.
In this game, the Romans, who fail to conquer the last Gaul village, kidnap Getafix, the druid who brews the magic potion that gives its inhabitants supernatural strength. Vitalstatistix, the village chief, orders Asterix and Obelix to find and rescue him from Caesar’s hands and bring him back no matter the cost.
There are seven regular levels that can be played with either Asterix or Obelix, and the bonus stages, accessible when you collect fifty bones in a single round, where you control little Dogmatix. Obelix moves slower, but is able to manipulate objects, while Asterix is much faster. Both heroes can chosen alternately according to the level. In the two-player mode, you each choose a character and clear areas in turns.
The heroes can jump, punch, swim, throw obstacles, grab vines or ropes and they have distinct moves. Aside from these, there are special potions that melt ice, create makeshift bridges or blow up blocks.
What we have here is an online version of this game that can be played in your browser (HTML5), alone or with a friend in the same computer. It has both English and French support.
