Overview
Kenseiden is a side-scrolling platform game with some action-RPG twists where you are Hayato, a fearless samurai warrior who must retrieve a powerful sword and secret scrolls stolen from your family by warlocks in a feudal Japan.
This single player game features sixteen rounds, each puts ghosts, skeletons and demonic spirits against Hakato. If they touch him, he will lose health, but this warrior has his sword and special samurai skills on his side.
A round can be beaten by reaching its end by getting through the undead and the yōkai that plague this 16th century Japan, but, in some levels, you will have to fight a warlock (a boss) to the death in order to unlock the exit. Any beaten round can be replayed by choosing it in the Japan’s map screen.
Hayako gains a new special skill, from jumping way higher to a berserk sword technique, whenever he recovers a secret scroll from the warlocks. There is also plenty of items, power-ups and even training rounds to increase his powers and health.
Kenseiden is a great and classic game that was developed by Sega and originally released to Master System in 1988. What we have here is an online version of its international localization ready to be played online, in your browser, without the need of downloading, etc.
