Overview
Marksman Shooting / Trap Shooting / Safari Hunt is the European version of the shooting gallery Marksman Shooting & Trap Shooting, which brings one of the old games that are included in the BIOS of the first public Sega Master System version.
So, it’s originally a cartridge that bundles Marksman Shooting and Trap Shooting plus Safari Hunt, the later also being the Sega‘s response to the seminal Duck Hunt. All of the three games support the Light Phaser, but since they are all set here to be played online, in your browser (HMLT5), you can use the mouse to play them instead.
Gameplay
Regardless of this triple chosen in the title screen, players must hit targets and beat the qualifying score before moving on to the next round. Failure to qualify results means game over. Targets vary in each game.
Marksman Shooting
Marksman Shooting is a target shooting game where you have to hit points in a FBI training camp. You have to shoot the targets before they disappear and score enough points to qualify for the next round.
Trap Shooting
Trap Shooting simulates the sport of the same name where the players shoot at flying targets, dishes that are called “clay pigeons”. You need to hit each disc as one is thrown into the air before they disappear in order to score enough points to advance to the next round.
Safari Hunt
Safari Hunt is the shooting gallery where you must score a certain number of points by hitting animals with a limited number of bullets to move on to the next level. There are three different levels, each with its own targets and each target requiring more or fewer shots to be taken down:
- Lake – Duck, fish and rabbit;
- Forest – Bird, armadillo and bear;
- Jungle – Spider, monkey, bat and panther.
These three levels will be repeated, getting progressively harder until number 69, in which the final score required is one million points. If you beat it, a screen appears informing that you reached the end of the game, followed by a “Game Over” screen.
