Phantom 2040 [Game Gear]

Overview

Here, we have the Game Gear version of Phantom 2040, an action-adventure based on the animated TV series of the same name, where the player navigates the Phantom through seven levels, completing some mission objectives to progress against the Biot threat, which are a part of Maximum Inc.’s private army.

In Phantom 2040, the city of Metropia is in total chaos. Crime, smuggling and terrorism are escalating. The Maximum Inc. is a corporation which has developed a biotechnology that is threatening to corrupt nature – causing animal extinction and ecosystem adulteration. The evil company owner, Rebecca Madison, would like to rule Metropia and the world behind a curtain of good intentions. Thankfully, The Phantom, following the proud but secret footsteps of his ancestors, will use his skills and advanced technology to get things right. Meanwhile the giant corporation is developing a new kind of Biot to take down the Phantom.

This game was initially released in 1995 to Game Gear, Genesis and Super Nintendo. We have it here ready to be played online, in your browser (HTML5), the player can acquire and utilize weapons with limited ammo, and gadgets such as invisibility. The game consists of mainly platformer levels, but does incorporate a couple of vertical scrolling shooter sections. In some parts of a platform level, the Phantom must hack a computer in the form of a mini-game to bypass a locked door.

Controls

• Arrow Keys – Move and aim
• X – (Button 1) Attacks
• Z – (Button 2) Jumps
• Enter – (Start) Pause/Menu/Inventory
• Attention – these controls are default. Hover your mouse into the lower part of the screen and a control bar will show up. You can set the controls in there, if you want.
