Overview
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (タクティクスオウガ外伝) is a tactical RPG game developed by Quest and released by Nintendo, in 2001.
The Knight of Lodis features party-based tactical combat on an isometric playing field, where the player has limited control outside of battle, much like Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. In Knight of Lodis, the player has control only over features like the shop, options menu, and an option to participate in a training session to gain experience. Also, the movement on the world map is extremely limited.
The game’s characters can be hired or recruited in combat. There are also interchangeable classes with several types of weapons, equipment and magic spells.
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis is available here, at Ace Online Games, on it’s Game Boy Advance original version, set to be played directly in your browser.
Plot
Before the events set in the Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen and Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber, this game is basically about completing medieval quests and killing monsters (including zombies) and other enemies in Ovis, a land brutally oppressed by the knights of Lodis.
Alphonse Loeher is a knight in Rictor Lasanti’s military unit, the Order of the Sacred Flame. When he was sent to this land, he gets separated from the rest of the unit and meets Eleanor Olato and Ivanna Batraal. These locals reveal to him the truth about the horrific events taking place in Ovis.
As the game progresses, Alphonse begins to question the actions and motives of Rictor, looking for answers. He learns about Ivanna’s uncle, the sinister regent Naris Batraal, and the sacred spear, Longicolnis, the only instrument that can pierce Shaher’s skin, the fallen angel.
Eventually, choices that can significantly change the destiny of the whole adventure will be presented to Alphonse. There are five possible endings on the game and they depend on these choices.
